Julie Tyler please ring me again, your answer phone message is garbled WINCHESTER BUGGY A man who ordered parts for a kite buggy was shocked when he received two Winchester rifles instead. BBC news CLICK HERE 19/3/05
Over half of London's motorists are dumbfounded by road signs, a recent survey has found. Some motorists thought a slippery road sign meant they should be cautious of drunk drivers, an insurance firm said. The survey also showed 50% of drivers did not know the sign for risk of ice and some thought a side winds warning sign indicated a kite-flying area. Again more than half of the Capital's drivers admitted they had not checked the Highway Code since passing their driving test. 15/3/05 Get By With A Little Help We are currently seeking a new sponsors for the website over this next year starting from April. Thanks to everyone who turned up for the Feast-In, what a great day and real pleasure to meet you all. A big thanks to Neil, who did most of the cooking for us and I even got some flying in... Happy New Year. Feast-in Christmas Fly-in and nosh-up at Shoebury East Beach 27th December. More details on meets section of the Flexifoil forum http://www.flexifoil.com/community/forums/showthread.php?t=58276 Another Technical Fault This seems to be getting a bit regular, we have been kindly been supported with web space over the last two years, by Tenerife Leisure, but due access changes during October, we haven't been able to update the site until now, due to an oversight of access codes and red tape etc. we are now back online and hoping to continue our sponsorship for another year. I am also hoping to bring onboard another supporter in the new year, with some free advertising in exchange for some great deals in printed regalia (T-Shirts, kite holdalls and much more) Rec.Kites Makeover The Rec.kites forum which hosted on Google.com has had a make over for the better, with option of showing some of the posting or just the titles. A much brighter look and maybe this will encourage more people to post there, especially that there are now so many forums, to thin things out. 1/12/04 Power Kite Mag Snippet Sadly, I had to miss the Bristol Kite Festival after a lot of planning, but I was really pleased to see a reasonably good article with photos in the December issue of Power Kite magazine. The weather looked great and lots of familiar faces from the sport kite fraternity. Still not enough trick kite stuff in this publication, but some is better than none. Loads of the usual traction, snow and surf with large photos throughout. 28/11/04

Well it’s taken a bit longer than expected; it’s been either zero wind or pouring here – but I’ve finally got the completed set up and I’ve now released the T2 Solo in 2005 specification. The new version has a different bridle and frame, plus an optional kit of parts for trick flying. There’s no change to the sail, so existing owners can upgrade – and I’ve put the full list of technical changes on the website for anyone who fancies some DIY! Once again I’m indebted to Matt Stevens for the final setup; Matt has taken the kite to a new level of trick capability and at the same time keeping or even bettering the precision. The Solo always has been very competent in the axle/flat spin old-school trick camp – the 2005 keeps all that and adds backspin and rollup groups too. The main characteristic is it can trick slowly – so backspin cascades are very easy for example. I’d describe this as a ballet kite rather than a full-on freestyler. Ed Green has been giving the first one a thrashing – he intercepted it en route for Jim Byne in the States and I think (hope!) he likes it. Kind regards Peter 31/8/04 Rumours Can Come True Neil and myself took a trip down to Guilford on Monday to meet up with Andy Wardley and some of the Fractured Axel crew, but the best bit of all was a test fly of the latest creation from Benson/ABW, prototype 'C1' and I liked it... Still has that small handed movement like all Benson's but with a weighted feel to turns etc. wraps up both ways with ease fruit roll-ups and yo-yos. I surprised myself with some of the tricks I was doing. ABW really put it through its paces, 3 & 4 wraps, backspin and out again, looked fantastic, precise and all the latest tricks. Some very clever ideas have been put to use and coped with the strong winds easily. ABW said that work has still be done with graphics and of course a name... Spring launch maybe!!! Alan 25/8/04 |
