I have always enjoyed kites in one way or another since I was a kid, but I have only recently got into the freestyle and trick side of things. I looked around for a kite that would suit me but the prices of quality kites are high and secondhand kites of any quality are few and far between. After searching the internet, I fell in love with the Jam Sessions Millennium made by HQ kites I managed to save myself a few quid by checking out most shops and web sites and eventually parting with £89 to the Kite Shop.co.uk I received the kite and lines within the week which I was very pleased about, as I was itching to get going. I have been practicing on regular basis (usually Leigh Marshes nr Southend-on-Sea) and I have meet some great people locally who have helped me a great deal. Thanks to friends, Whaam Kites, the internet and a few kite video's, I have progressed rapidly and I am now flying expert trick/freestyle kites such as the Gemini from Tim Benson. My kite bag has grown a little over the year and I have traveled along with members of the Mobius Flix Kite Club, 3/4 of the UK and made some great friends at festivals. I was lucky enough to get a place at the only Dodd Gross Flight School in the UK during 2001 and you can see some pictures on the Mobius Flix web site and I have already booked a place again next year at one of two Flight Schools arranged for the Portsmouth Kite Festival. On the next few pages are some kites I am interested in and I can recommend a visit to the Mobius Flix web site for links to shops, clubs, manufactures, personal sites and loads more.

As time passed I wanted to improve my skills and felt that the Jam Sessions Millennium could not fulfill that goal and a new purpose designed trick kite was in order. I watched a guy at Southend-on-Sea doing tricks I had never seen before using the Benson Gemini, but did not get to talk to him for some weeks until the London International Kite Festival 2000 at Hackney. I had seen some rad tricks being done, with general chat being the Gemini. Some over-time later and a few visits to all the shops within a 100 miles, yes! I checked them all for prices etc. Some tried to put me off and sell me something else, mainly because they did not stock Benson Kites or some other excuse. Whaam kites in Chelmsford eventually where happy to take my money which was starting to burn a hole in pocket and make me a happy bunny. They where also the cheapest, again I checked out all the web sites. Simon (Whaam, Chelmsford) and Dave ( Whaam, Lakeside) were very helpful and even gave me a few lessons and ordered parts and extras for me. They have both become good friends and still teach me a thing or two. Anyone who hasn't experienced the Gemini hasn't lived!
