MATCH REPORTS
2005/2006 Season draws to a close with a
major triumph.
The
under 9 Tigers were invited to join 4 other teams at the
Hullbridge Sports Tournament on Sunday 21st
May.
In a league of 5 which along with
Hambro included Leigh Ramblers, Wickford
Town, Hullbridge and
Benfleet Youth, on an overcast, showery, windy and slightly sloping
pitch our team put together all their training and experience from the
season. 4 games, 4 wins, 4 goals to
Hambro and none against, a
wonderful performance, and winners of the competition. All players were
outstanding, our parents were tremendous support and somewhat damp and
windswept by the time of the presentations. Runners up were
Wickford.
Great performance all round.
Congratulations also to Hullbridge
on a well organized event and all participants. The matches were played in
good spirit.

HAMBRO COLTS 3 VS. WICKFORD TOWN 0
First match of
2006 saw a visit from Wickford. They managed a
3-0 win totally against the run of play during the first part of the
season so this was a return we needed to win.
Wickford were also above Hambro on
points and a games in hand. Steady start but
well fought draw at half time. Defence had performed really well against a
Wickford boy who individually is one of
leagues top scorers. The second half finally brought the
rewards , our continual pressure from midfield
and super crosses from Andrew and runs by Thomas brought first goal from
Luke. Within minutes Broghan found the net
after some really hard tackles against her. A few knocks and subs on and
off with everyone tired but really working well. Third goal came from
Andrews cross (fresh on as a sub) from free kick onto
Lukes head into the net. Match still not over as
Wickford kept trying to get back and forced
several corners and gained a penalty. ………..Saved by
Harrison.
A 3-0 home win, probably the best all round
team effort this season. I`m sure we can
repeat it at Rayleigh next week.

HULLBRIDGE 0 - HAMBRO COLTS 2
Under 9`s Tigers away fixture against
Hullbridge Tigers resulted in a 2 - 0 Win for Hambro. Was it a diamond
formation or perhaps a 1231 formation that produced the win ? No it was
just down to a tremendous team effort from goalkeeper, defenders, midfield
and forwards, although the goals were both from Angus, but the build up a
play and passes forward must also be mentioned, - a super win and great
entertainment for the players and supporters.
Next week we play Chalvedon boys at
home.

BLACKGATE GUNNERS 0 - HAMBRO COLTS 4
Under 9`s leopards had a free week this
week but their last weeks match deserves mention, A great 4 - 0 win away
to Blackgate Gunners, Goals from Christopher, Daniel and two from LukeB
and the whole team played very well and this will hopefully help us in our
next match away to Hamlet Court Leopards.
